Maybe with all the money you save you can afford this one

newcars.htm Try to keep your choices of make and model limited to two or three vehicles.

If you try to shop a lot of different types of vehicles I promise you will end up so frustrated that you just might not even buy a car. Keep in mind every different automobile you choose means you have to deal with that many sales people. Unless you are fortunate enough to have multi franchised dealerships in your area. You may be able to use the same sales person to several different cars. Although some of these larger dealerships don't let there sales people cross sell. Do a lot of your pre-shopping on the internet and eliminate those vehicles you don't want to look at ahead of time.

How much should you spend on a vehicle:

Not only does the finacing institute look at your credit score to determin rate and approval. They also check your net to debit ratio. What that means is that you have to have enough cash flow comming in to cover whats going out. The best rule of thumb to use is about 36% of your gross monthly income. If you gross 50,000.00 a year you take 36% of that number which is 18,000.00. If your total bills ect morgage, rent credit cards equal a total of 13000.00 per year then you can spend about 5000.00 per year on a vehicle which equals about 415.00 per month. This is keeping your debt to net in line. some lenders will go higher but not much over 40%. This is just a rule of thumb. In no way am I insinuating what you can afford a month for a vehicle. Just showing you what the lenders consider when they make a decision on your loan app.

Ok now we need to select a few different dealerships

What you buy  is just as important as to where you buy it. Key things to keep in mind is how convenient is the location from home or work? What type of reputation do they have? Do you know anyone who has bought from there? What type of services do they offer? Such as loaner cars or shuttle service too and from work or home. This may not seem as important right now but I can assure you if you have a problem you'll be glad you did. Yes even brand new cars have problems from time to time.

 Now lets choose a salesperson

         A. Yes you heard me right, You choose who and where you do business. Its your money and they all want it. There are a lot of poor sales people out there. For the most part it isn't there fault. At best they may receive as little as two weeks training if they get any at all. Very few of them take the time necessary to learn anything about there trade or even the product they sell. Unbelievable isn't it? There is someone somewhere  negotiating a 30,000 dollar deal and doesn't have a clue to what he/she is doing. Anyway I'll not bore you with the details of that. Test your sales person to see if he/she knows ab out the product, Have a few question that you have the answer to already and ask the salesperson those question. For example how many trim levels does this car come in or how many different colors can you get it in. If you already know the answer you find it quite funny some of the answers you will get. Most of them are taught if they don't know the answer to say."I really don't know the answer but I will find out as soon as I can and let you know" This is the answer of an ill prepared salesperson especially if it is a pretty easy question. You want to find someone who knows there product and has been around for awhile. Finding a good sales person can be just as hard as finding the right pre-owned vehicle. A least try to make sure you are comfortable with that person. If not don't be afraid to ask for someone else. Just ask to speak with the sales man ager in private if possible and explain very briefly that you would like to work with a different sales person. The right manager will fix this problem asap. If they don't, don't walk away run, if they will not fix this little of a situation how will they help you after the sale. I could go on for ever about this but lets move on ok. If you have a question please just e-mail me and I would be glad to answer it for you.

B. There several different kinds of salespeople out there. The ones to avoid are thehunters efer to them. This is the guy who is usually standing on the lot some where when you pull in. He is very aggressive to get to you and greet you. This guy will start to qualify you right away. He is trying to find out if you are ready to buy right now. This type of sales person usually has very poor follow up skills and once he sells you you will never hear from him again. The best way to handle this guy is tell him you are just shopping. If he is a hunter he will probably walk away and leave you unattended. If you do need assistance try to let him get someone else and you just get another salesperson or tell him you where referred into the dealership and where suppose to ask for the sales manager. He will more than likely point you in the right direction and walk away. Here is the fun part when the manager introduces his self to you tell him that so and so recommend you to talk to him. Just make up a name he/she will act like they know who you  are talking about and work with you personnely or give you to one of there pet sales people. Either way you should get away from the hunter. The other option you have is to just leave the dealership and give your business to someone else. Another type of sales person is the professional good luck trying to find one of these. They are the rare bread any more this is the person you want to help you. He/she is dressed sharp well spoken and very curtiuos to you. You will know one when u meet one , they know there product and they know the process of the dealership. Many of them even house privileges they can do things that others can't like look at invoices get information faster, The kind of things that can speed up the whole process. This is the salesperson you want to work with they are most likely to follow up after a sale and handle any problems that may come up. You will not have to look all over for this person and they will return a phone call, most even if they are off work. So I hope this shows you a little difference between the types of sales people. A lot of people like to work with the new guy and feel that the experinced one will rip your head off. Not so true any more the new guy is getting his advice from a manager who wants to make a lot of gross the experinced one knows the difference between a lay down and a potential customer. Do not be affraid to ask how long they have work there and if they are real new just politely ask to speak to the manager and tell that person you would rather work with some else who has more experince. Most managers won't think twice before getting some else to help you.security guard. This is the one standing at or near the door waiting and watching to see what you are going do. If things looke what good he/she will then aproach you in a very timid manner. He/she will normaly start out with can I help you. The there is the

What should I expect from my sales person????

The answer is a LOT, again its your money. Would you leave a tip if your services where poor, probably not. Then you should expect that your sales person do the best job possible from start to finish. Salespeople in this business are taught the 10 steps of selling. If your salesperson does them all he is a professional sales person and you should be comfortable with this person. View the ten steps to selling to see how they will work the deal.
