YOUR TRADE-IN

This section is going to talk about what to do with you trade-In

Rule number one. try to sell your trade your self. If it is a new model then this rule applies big time. If you know someone who has shown an interest in the trade contact them before you start to shop the dealers. Make a deal with person understanding that they can't finish the transaction until you buy the new vehicle, unless you have other transportation of course. In this case just finish the deal if you are getting whay you want for it. Todays market is a buyers market however that has a steong impact on the value of your trade. The dealers are forced to sell the new vehicles cheap and limit there profit. This means they will try to make it up on the trade-In. Take that out of the equation and you will be ahead before you even start.

Most people today are to busy to sell there trade-Ins so they are left at the mercy of the dealership. This is not the postion you want to be in. Try to set the time aside to sell the trade, list in your local paper or go to cars.com or any other local web site that might help you to sell your trade. If you know when you want to buy a new vehicle it makes it easier to plan these type of things. However most people make the mistake of buying a car on emotion and end up getting the raw deal.It has always amazed me that most people will spen more time planning for a vaction that buy a car. Wake up people this is the second largest purcahse you will make in your life. A lot of dealers will strong arm closing tactics on you when you go in there. They will prey on your emotions and most of time they will win. Who wouldn't rather drive out in a brand new car instead of the old car you where driving. The smell, the feel, The option, The new technoligies all these things the dealers knows and uses against you.don't fall prey to that. The worst thing that can happen to you is called buyers remorse. Ever gone out and bought something got it home.thought about it for a while and decieded to take it back because you coudn't really afford it or it wasn't exactly what you wanted and you just settled. thats called buyers remorse. i can't count how many times I have seen this in people over the years. Guess what most dealers will not let you bring the car back. Once you sign the papers you own it. There is no three day rule that allows you to bring it back. That law comes from in home solicitations. They would have had to come to your jouse and sold it to you in order for that law to apply.

Rule number two If you do have to trade then wait until the last minute to tell them Now I cover this under page name trade buyer Plesae take time to reaqd it has a lot of useful information on how to get the most out of your trade-In.

Rule number three Get your trade ready to trade. What I mean is clean up your trade the best you can. Your salesperson if you have already spoken to one will tell you different he'll just want to bring it in an get a deaal put together. Lets stop and think about this when they appraise your trade it is just another person doing it. Someone like you or me, If they see a dirty car don't you think it would make an impact on his/hers decision of what the car is worth. Well wouldn't it to you, of course it would so clean your trade it may help you get more money out of it. If it is a new car but it is dirty inside and out send it out to a detailer and spend a few dollars to get it as clean as you can. Get out any stains on the seats or door panels. If your car hasn't had an oil change recently do it before you take it in. You don't have to change the filter just the oil. When a dealer looks at a possible trade and it looks well maintained they will step up and put more mon ey in it. This trade is easier for them to sell because they know a little bit a bout the history. Before you take it in to be appraised look at the car as if you where going to buy yourself and ask the question. Would I buy this car if saw it on A LOT? Be truthful with yourself if you see something you don't like try to fix it. I am not suggesting you spend a small fortune on it but if it will only cost a couple of bucks then do it. If you have a crack in the windshield check with your insurance company there are a lot of states that don't charge a deductable to fix them. When I appraised a car that had a crack in it I would hit the car about 300 to 500 hundred dollars less to replace it. There are also companies out there that can fix little stars in the windshield. I guess the price is about 25 or 30 dollars per star. You need to just use your common sence here if you think they will deduct for the whole windshield and it is only going to caost 30.00 to fix it I would spend the money.

WHAT THE DEALERS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW
